MEET THE CHEF:
Born and raised in Arkansas, Nena Evans has a love for gardening, cooking, and the outdoors. Currently, Nena and her husband live in Mountainburg, where they have a cat and 13 chickens. They have dreams of owning their own veggie and livestock farm one day, and are slowing building that dream into reality. Nena's journey with sourdough started 2019 while she was working as the Garden and Nutrition Manager at the NWA Food Bank. One of the garden volunteers, a local pastry chef, shared her starter with Nena, and she's been baking ever since! She loves knowing what goes into her food and enjoys the process of crafting simple ingredients into something delicious and wholesome. Nena's starter, Breadly Cooper Hammer, is said to date back to the 1908 World's Fair. He has been lovingly cared for and passed down for generations. She's thrilled to share Breadly and her sourdough knowledge with you!
