Experience the warmth and richness of Assyrian hospitality as Shannon Simons makes her chef debut in the HKS Kitchen. Featuring an introduction to Assyrian cuisine, rooted in the ancient Middle East, this class will take you on a flavorful journey through cherished family recipes and ancient culinary traditions. You’ll start with a refreshing appetizer of jajik—a cool yogurt and cucumber dip—served with soft lawasha bread, crisp radishes, and cucumber slices. Then, for the main course, you’ll roll up your sleeves to prepare savory, hand-rolled dolmas with creamy mesta and paprika butter to enjoy with fragrant Assyrian baked rice and a bright, herb-packed fattoush salad. To finish, you’ll enjoy a special treat prepared by the chef, delicate kleicha pastries and black tea served with traditional sugar cubes, the perfect ending to a heartfelt, home-cooked Assyrian meal. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person.
