The summer heat is on! Join Chef Abbey Cochran in the HKS Kitchen for a summer cookout-inspired menu packed with bold, comforting flavors and crowd-pleasing favorites. Kick things off with crispy Fried Hush Puppies paired with a Sweet and Tangy Tomato Jam, then dive into juicy Pulled Chicken Sandwiches slathered in a rich Raspberry BBQ Sauce that perfectly balances smoky and sweet. On the side, you’ll prepare a zesty South Carolina Mustard Coleslaw and a creamy, indulgent Baked Macaroni and Cheese—two staples of any great backyard spread. To finish, treat yourself to a decadent dessert of Pan-Fried Pound Cake topped with warm Bourbon Peaches and served alongside velvety Vanilla Bean Buttermilk Ice Cream. This class captures the spirit of summer entertaining with dishes that are as fun to make as they are to share. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person.

MEET THE CHEF:

Abbey Cochran is a food enthusiast who is a Missouri native with Carolina roots. College took her to North Carolina where she studied Restaurant, Food & Beverage Management. Upon falling in love with Charlotte, she resided in the area for nearly a decade while immersing herself in the hospitality and food & beverage industries. While culinary courses were helpful during college, she really got inspired and passionate when she worked as a spice merchant. Abbey has always had a love for food and how it brings people together, as food is a universal language that everyone understands. She takes that mindset into her current role at Onyx Coffee Lab, where she works as a specialty coffee roaster.
