with Abbey Cochran of Onyx Coffee Lab
Join us in the HKS Kitchen for a flavor-packed cooking class inspired by Chef Abbey Cochran’s all-time favorite dishes, where bold Latin flair and comfort food meet in the most delicious ways. You’ll start by enjoying an appetizer of chef’s crispy, golden Elote Arancini—an irresistible twist on the classic Arancini infused with sweet corn, chili, lime, and cotija. Then, you’ll start work on perfectly marinated Carne Asada to layer with fresh toppings and warm tortillas for the tastiest of tacos, and you’ll mix up a bright, zesty Salsa Verde that brings everything to life with fresh herbs and a touch of heat. To finish the evening on a sweet note, you’ll enjoy a decadent Black Forest Tres Leches, a deliciously playful take on the classic dessert featuring rich chocolate, cherries, and a creamy trio of milks. Come ready to cook, taste, and celebrate a menu that’s as creative as it is comforting. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person.
*All class ticket sales are final. No refunds or credit transfers to other classes are available. If you purchased a ticket and are unable to attend, please contact us to check our waitlist.*
MEET THE CHEF:
Abbey Cochran is a food enthusiast who is a Missouri native with Carolina roots. College took her to North Carolina where she studied Restaurant, Food & Beverage Management. Upon falling in love with Charlotte, she resided in the area for nearly a decade while immersing herself in the hospitality and food & beverage industries. While culinary courses were helpful during college, she really got inspired and passionate when she worked as a spice merchant. Abbey has always had a love for food and how it brings people together, as food is a universal language that everyone understands. She takes that mindset into her current role at Onyx Coffee Lab, where she works as a specialty coffee roaster.
