It’s pie time! Come celebrate apple pie, a timeless American favorite, with Chef Helen Lampkin in the HKS Kitchen. In this afternoon pie baking workshop you’ll focus your attention on the how-tos of making the various elements of this classic dessert, and you’ll leave with a 6-inch Pie to Take-and-Bake at Home. Class will begin with a light bite – an Apple Walnut Salad with Cider Vinaigrette. Then, you’ll get to work learning the basics, like how to create a tender, flaky Buttermilk Pie Crust from scratch. Helen will share her secrets to getting your crust perfect every time! Next you'll prepare a spiced Apple Pie Filling and a rich Apple Caramel Sauce that adds an irresistible finishing touch. After you’ve assembled your own apple pie in class, Chef Helen will treat you to a slice of her Deep-Dish Apple Pie before sending you on your way to bake your own bakery-worthy dessert at home. Be sure to plan ahead for this class so you can safely transport your pre-assembled pie home for baking as it will not be baked in class. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person.

MEET THE CHEF
Helen Lampkin, woman of faith, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, lives an inspired “no ordinary” life based on the words found in Colossians 3:23 – “do all things wholeheartedly to the Lord.” This inspiration is at the heart of all she does and has led her to become an entrepreneur (founder of My Brother’s Salsa), artist, adventurous cook, recipe developer/writer, food stylist, and blogger.
