Celebrate Lunar New Year with a vibrant, flavor-packed cooking class led by Chef Katie Helams in the HKS Kitchen. Inspired by the bold traditions of Chinese cuisine, you’ll begin the evening with a refreshing Noodle and Vegetable Salad as an appetizer that balances texture and brightness. Then, you’ll dive in hands-on to the main course, Sichuan MaLa Chicken, a dish that showcases the iconic numbing heat of Sichuan peppercorns and chili. To complement the spice of the chicken dish, you’ll make a crisp Lotus Root Salad tossed with green onion, ginger, and vinegar, alongside Smashed Cucumbers with Garlic and Chili for a cooling, crunchy contrast. This festive class highlights balance, prosperity, and the exciting interplay of heat, freshness, and tradition perfect for ringing in the Chinese New Year. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person.

MEET THE CHEF:

Katie Helams, owner of Grow NWA, is a UK native who has over 20 years’ experience in the culinary field. After completing her training in the UK she came to Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, Missouri, as a culinary intern. After that, she worked in the UK and Asia to further her culinary knowledge. Since moving to NWA with her family she has turned her hand to indoor farming. She currently owns and operates a small microgreen farm in Bentonville and gets immense joy in sharing them with others. This allows her to stay connected to her culinary roots.
