Explore the vibrant flavors and healthy traditions of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world’s famed Blue Zones, with Chef David Prewett in the HKS Kitchen. The evening will begin with a chef-prepared traditional Central American rice and bean dish, Gallo Pinto, paired with sweet fried plantains as you sip on a refreshing Guaro Sour, Costa Rica’s most popular cocktail. Then you’ll roll up your sleeves to make a flavorful citrusy, spicy achiote chicken dish along with a hearty side of Picadillo de Verduras bursting with vegetables and spices. And you’ll wrap up the evening with a comforting and satisfying finale of arroz con leche, a sweet rice pudding. This class combines authentic, nutrient-rich dishes with hands-on techniques for a delicious taste of Costa Rican cuisine. Recipes will be provided. Tickets are priced per person. Must be 21+ to attend.
MEET THE CHEF:
David Prewett grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas. Having developed a love for cooking from his mom at the age of five, he has been diving into the culinary landscape ever since. He graduated with his master’s degree in nutrition. Specializing in scratch cooking and a variety of cuisines with emphasis in Italian, Asian, and, of course, Southern comfort food. He looks forward to taking you on an exciting culinary adventure full of laughter, amazing food, and great conversation. Bon appetite!
