Candy Cane Lane was inspired by my childhood memories of driving through Candy Cane Lane in Pacific Grove, California. Every Christmas, houses in this neighborhood would decorate their yards and the small greenway running through the neighborhood to the nines with holiday themed decorations. My sister and I would press our noses up against the windows of our family van that were icy cold from the cool Pacific ocean air. We would stare in awe of the creativity and dedication that this neighborhood had in establishing our favorite winter wonderland. My dad would turn on the holiday tunes and slowly drive through the neighborhood as we called out our favorite houses intricately adorned with beautiful colored lights and front lawns featuring classic characters painted by hand, with love, onto wood cut-outs.
